Opening Spring 2026!

Why Elk Valley Resort?

From the original course vision to today’s full-service resort revival, this is the story of how Elk Valley grew, reimagined itself, and keeps investing in the community.

The History of EVR

Elk Valley Golf Course was built by Dave Mickelson and his friend Dave Gentry. The amount of work and effort was truly amazing, and we owe them a debt of gratitude for having the vision and commitment to build the course.

After years of work, the course was opened in 2008, offering a mountain golf experience in a scenic valley setting. Serving as a hub for community events, weddings, and tournaments alongside its golf play as a 9-hole course, Elk Valley Resort has been a community mainstay.

After being in operation for 14 years, Dave Mickelson passed away in 2022, and the future of the golf course was unclear. After a few years of being closed, we purchased the land, with the goal of moving away from just being a golf course. Our focus has been to not be just a golf course, but to work toward being a full-service resort.

Since acquiring the property, we have been closed for almost two years so we can focus on our vision of building an amazing resort. It’s been an incredible journey to fix old and build new. One of the first steps was to renovate the golf course. We started by building new golf greens, installing over 800 sprinklers, and adding 9 new tee boxes so you can enjoy a full 18-hole experience on our 9-hole course, with each tee box giving you a completely different look of the hole. Oh yah, we also bought 20 brand new Yamaha golf carts.

Once we had the golf course growing, we then purchased new mowers, fertilizing equipment, tractors, and a fairway vacuum, just to name a few. We also installed 75,000 sq ft of new sod around the lodge, creating an amazing area for weddings, gatherings, corporate events, etc. We also installed 4 championship-level pickleball courts and built an amazing deck off the back of the lodge to hang out and enjoy the new gas firepits.

We also completely rebuilt the lodge, increased the number of restrooms, and installed a brand-new bar and kitchen. We didn’t stop there; we planted over 200 potted flowers, 150 trees, and 1,000 wildflowers. We also have a few new permanent bears on the course, as well as a Sasquatch.

We have also upgraded our 17-space RV park by making parking easier, adding a dog park, and improving water quality. As you can see, we have been busy and continue to remain committed to improving the look and feel of our resort. It is our hope that we have built something that the entire community can be proud of.

Along with offering a great guest experience, we will also have select building sites for sale from time to time for those who want to live near the resort on a more permanent basis.

In closing, we hope you have a wonderful full visit and enjoy all we have accomplished so far, and know that we’re not done improving!
